Welcome to Our New Website
Dear neighbors,
If you've spent a summer at Buttonwoods, you know the best news here usually travels fast. I’ve gone for many “quick walks” that ended up with me sitting on a neighbors deck for multiple hours chit chatting about summer plans, ideas for the next event, and how lucky we are to spend our summers here… you guys all get it.
That word-of-mouth magic is part of what makes our community so special. But occasionally, things slip through the cracks: a schedule change, a meeting, a document someone needed and couldn't track down.
For about two years now, I've been planning this website as a way to help modernize the way our community shares information. Last spring I gathered a fantastic group of women and we formed the Communications Committee. We met and brainstormed how we wanted this to work, and how we can best work together to serve all neighbors. I would especially like to thank the Communications Committee for all their contributions to make this possible. If you see them in the campground, please give them a high five! Sydney Conley, Casey Beaudoin, Katie Schlatter, Cynthia Clark, Dolly Sullivan, Sue Ellinwood.
And now we finally have a website! You'll find it at buttonwoodsbca.com, and it's built to do one simple thing: gather everything that matters to our community into one place.
Here's what's waiting for you today on the Public side of the website:
Calendar — the full rhythm of our season, courtesy of the Social Committee
News — right where you're reading this. We’ll post the more social side of updates about our community.
About and Committees — who we are, and the volunteers who keep Buttonwoods running.
Clamwear — because no Buttonwoods summer is complete without it.
And then there's the part just for us. When you click Member Log In at the top of the page, you'll reach a members-only area with our official documents and updates in one spot.
Member Directory — Name, Cottage Number, Contact for all our neighbors
Official BCA Meeting Minutes — Documents posted for all official Buttonwoods meetings
Documents — Easily access our by laws, Landlord lease, and other resources.
Forms — Find the relevant forms to rent the hall, building requests, etc.
And in the future here is what you can expect:
Texted Updates -- Sydney Conley has been looking into texting platforms for us, allowing us to blast one-way updates when an Official Buttonwoods update has been posted.
Email Updates — We are also planning to roll out an email integration that alerts you when something has been posted if that’s more your thing.
Private Memo Board — I am working on how to best do this, maybe it will be a forum. I am not sure yet.
I'll be honest with you: this is a beginning, not a finished thing. The directory is still filling in, more documents are on their way, and there are corners I'm still building out. You may land on a page that says "coming soon"or had incomplete information — take that as a promise that we are working in our spare time to make this the best it can be.
Keep an eye on your inbox over the coming weeks — I'll be sending each household an invitation to set up your login and choose a password. If you need help, I will be scheduling onboarding sessions at the hall to help anyone who needs it.
So take a look around. And please — tell me what you think, what's missing, what you'd love to see. This is ours, and it will grow with us.
